Beginning Algebra
MAT 0024C

I. Course Description: Presents algebraic skills for MAT 1033. Topics include real numbers and their properties, solving equations and inequalities, exponents and polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, graphing linear equations, solving systems of linear equations, and roots and radicals. Compensatory credit only.

II. Prerequisite: MAT 0002C or required placement score

III. Textbook: Elementary Algebra, by Bello

IV. Calculators are NOT allowed

V. Grading

Letter Grade as follows:
90-100 A
80-89 B
70-79 C
60-69 D
The required lab counts 20% of the final grade.

If a score of less than 80% is made on any chapter test, a retake may be taken within one week of the test date. The highest grade awarded for any retake is 80%. Students must complete all lecture and lab assignments to be able to take the state final exam. A score of 70% or better must be made on the state final exam.
